Vase life consequences of natural and chemical treatments in foxtail lily (Eremurus spectabilis), as a specialty cut flowers

Abstract Eremurus spectabilis is a new, commercially valuable specialty cut flower, but little known about the applicable treatments to extend vase-life and maintaining ornamental quality of this flower. Therefore, present study was aimed at investigating impacts nano-silver, essential oils, chemical on keeping inflorescences Foxtail lily. The were placed in different vase solutions containing salicylic acid (100 200 mg L-1), methyl jasmonate (25 50 silver thiosulfate (0.1 mM) plus isothiazolinone (0.001 0.005 mL nano-silver (5, 10, 15 thymol (75 120 menthol which applied as continuous pulsing methods. According results, all considerably improved post-harvest performance lily flowers. Although there no significant differences among (NS) treatments, kept solution 10 L-1 NS exhibited longest life (~14 days) best quality. Nano-silver treatment followed by silver-thiosulfate significantly uptake flowering inflorescences, thereby delaying water balance loss relative fresh weight. Furthermore, jasmonate- 75 menthol-treated higher longevity ~ 6 4 days, total soluble solutes 28.38% 19.12%, rate 76.46% 140.6%, respectively, compared control. Overall, can be recommended commercial preservative delay flower senescence improve foxtail inflorescence.
